WITT Stories Starring Yara Saadaldin

Our Kids First App development team thrives on a diversity of skills and perspectives. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Yara Saadaldin, the talented UI/UX designer who brings a fresh perspective and artistic touch to the project. Yara’s story is a vibrant tapestry woven with artistic passion, determination, and the power of community. It all began in Dubai, where a young Yara discovered her love for drawing and all things creative.

Fresh out of high school, Yara found herself drawn to multimedia design – a perfect blend of her artistic flair and fascination with technology. It was during this time that she discovered the captivating world of UX design, a field that resonated deeply with her desire to understand people and create things that truly served their needs. Later, Yara was presented with the perfect opportunity to show what she can do, when she became part of the Women IT Teleworkers (WITT) team, in our app development project.

The Kids First App project provided the ideal environment for Yara to put her UX design skills into practice. As a UI/UX designer, Yara has played a pivotal role in the project. She’s honed her skills in user research, design systems, and navigating the sometimes-complex dance between designers and developers. She also led the initiative of creating user personas so our team could have a better understanding of the needs of people we are developing the app for.

“Joining the KIDS FIRST App project was an immersive experience. It wasn’t just about acquiring technical skills; it was about personal growth.”

As the youngest member of the team, Yara learned the importance of collaboration and navigating complex situations, and the seasoned professionals around her became a source of invaluable guidance.

Yara’s artistic background isn’t the only thing that makes her a perfect fit for the KIDS FIRST app team. Her dependable nature and dedication are evident in everything she does. You can assign her a multitude of tasks, and she tackles them all with a positive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile. This, combined with her problem-solving skills and eagerness to put herself out there, has made her a valuable asset. She’s always there to lend a hand, brainstorm solutions, and jump into new challenges with enthusiasm. This positive and proactive approach keeps the project moving forward smoothly.

Today, Yara is taking her design journey a step further. Inspired by the human-centered approach of UX research, combined with her desire to become an expert, she’s pursuing a degree in the field. Her ultimate goal is to delve deeper into the world of user psychology and create design solutions that truly empower people.

This goal clearly came through when asked with a creative open ended question. If she could change something about her field with a wave of a magic wand, what would it be?

Yara’s magic spell would target a universal designer’s frustration: resource limitations! To give designers ample time for everything – user research, meticulous testing, to fully identify those seemingly insignificant details that can elevate an experience – this, Yara believes, would be a designer’s dreamland. Her answer highlights Yara’s wish for quality and perfection in her work, but for now, she continues taking on the challenges with resourcefulness and adaptability.

Yara’s story is a testament to the power of embracing challenges, believing in your abilities, and pursuing your passions. Yara believes that following your passion isn’t always a straightforward and easy journey. There will be ups and downs, and things might take longer than expected. Her advice, rooted from her personal experience and from observing others in the same boat:

“Don’t be harsh on yourself. It takes time, but eventually, everyone turns out fine.”
